For those who did not know, CogAT, is basically an assessment of the test taker’s ability to judge a problem with reasoning and using common sense. The test seeks to judge three basic capabilities, namely execution, memory and attendance. This test is divided into three sections. These sections are quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. These three sections of the cogat practice test are further divided into three sub-sections. The sections of the test are divided into sub-sections, in order to evaluate a person’s ability in these sections from different angles. Another thing about the CogAT is that it is very different from an IQ test.

3 sections of the Cogat Practice Test

Quantitative Reasoning- As the very name suggests, this section deals with mathematical concepts and judges the ease with which people can solve a problem using basic mathematical operations. The course for this section includes quantitative relations, equation building and quantitative reasoning. As the quantitative section of the test literally makes or breaks things, the test taker should have a fairly sound knowledge of mathematics. No matter which field a student chooses, one does require a basic knowledge of mathematics, thus the CogAT evaluates a student’s potential in a particular field, by indicating the level of mathematical knowledge of a student. People can get a fair idea about the type of question they are going to get, if they solve some questions from a Cogat Practice Test.

Verbal Reasoning- This section comprises of language based and verbal reasoning questions. For clearing this section, people need to be well versed with concepts of vocabulary, sentence completion, critical reasoning and writing and comprehension. Non-Verbal reasoning Section- This section comprises of questions based on geometrical patterns and figures. Here also, the section is divided into three separate sections, for evaluating a person’s reasoning ability from three varying angles.
